No ‘No-Confidence’ Motion: Amit Shah on N Biren Resignation as CM

Addressing confusion surrounding the resignation of Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the floor of the Parliament clarified that there had been no no-confidence motion against the state government, contrary to claims made by the Congress.

He pointed out that the Congress did not have the necessary numbers to bring forward such a motion, and that after Biren Singh’s resignation, no party, including the Congress, which had only five MLAs, came forward to form the new government.
This, according to Amit Shah, ultimately led to the imposition of President’s Rule.

The Home Minister also addressed allegations of violence in Manipur, stating that there had been “zero violence” in the state, contrary to the reports circulated by the Opposition.

He accused the Congress and its allies of spreading misinformation about the situation, insisting that the government was in control. Amit Shah reiterated the Centre’s commitment to working closely with local communities and other stakeholders to resolve the ongoing crisis and prevent further violence in the state.
