JAN 16, 2025 (IMP): The Naga People’s Organisation (NPO) has sought clarification from the self-styled commander of the armed wing of the KNF-P, Tiger Kipgen, alias Thangboi Kipgen/Haogenthang Kipgen, regarding the threats issued to the Village Chairman of Ireng Naga Village, warning of an attack on the village.
“Such threats are extremely serious in nature and pose a direct challenge to peace, security, and communal harmony in the region,” the NPO said in a statement issued to the press.
Earlier, the Ireng villagers alleged that the armed group (KNF-P), under the United People’s Front (UPF), also dismantled a waiting shed constructed by the local residents. The situation was further aggravated by the inscription of the words “Kukiland” and “Stay Away” on a stone, an act which is highly provocative, condemnable, and unacceptable.
The NPO also views this incident not merely as an attack on a particular village, but as a direct challenge to the Naga people as a whole. Acts of intimidation, destruction of public property, and communal threats cannot and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
In the event that the perpetrators fail to surrender and are not held accountable for their actions, the Naga People’s Organisation will not remain a mute spectator. The organisation shall be compelled to respond appropriately and in a befitting manner if the culprits are not brought to justice at the earliest.
The NPO urges all concerned authorities to take immediate cognisance of the matter and ensure justice without delay, so as to prevent further deterioration of the situation.
