The NPP State President, Dr Lorho Pfoze, and Vice President, I. Hemochandra, have strongly condemned those with vested interests who are sabotaging efforts to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur after a prolonged period free from hostility.
Expressing regret over the fresh incident of firing that took place late yesterday at a village in Bishnupur district bordering Churachandpur district, NPP State President Dr Lorho Pfoze on Wednesday in Imphal stated, “Sudden and unexpected violence by firing is highly condemnable, and the NPP and its leadership have been advocating peace in Manipur and recognise the vision and aspirations of the people.”
“Let’s give up violence; one act of violence is an invitation to snowball another act of violence, and it is very unfortunate that not everyone thinks peace is necessary,” the NPP President appealed.
NPP Vice President I. Hemochandra said the fresh incident of firing occurred at a time when real hope was visible on the horizon. He said that for the last one year there had been no direct hostility or firing, which was a good development. “But yesterday it came as a big shock to us when we heard about the incident. We condemn the violence, and we condemn the firing,” he said.
“Let’s give peace a chance; we have suffered too much, and we have to reverse the clock. It’s about a new beginning, and it’s not easy. We all have to work towards it, we all have to speak in one strong voice, and the message has to go out strongly to those who are not interested in restoring normalcy and to all vested interests,” the NPP State Vice President added.
