DEC 18, 2025 (IMP): Nearly 95 per cent of the construction of the National Sports University (NSU) at Koutruk in Imphal West district has now been completed, and over the last three years, a total of Rs 475.96 crore has been allocated for the project, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya informed during a Parliament session while answering an unstarred question raised by Manipur MP Sanajaouba Leisemba.
The Union Minister of YAS also said that the exact timeline for the inauguration and handing over of the university to the public has yet to be decided.
The Union Minister further said that major challenges interrupting the completion process include frequent blockades on highways, which inconvenience transportation, recurring unrest due to the conflict in Manipur, and natural disasters such as torrential rain, floods, and landslides.
