Chandel, March 28: The Naga Students’ Union Chandel (NSUC), during its 4th Federal Assembly for the tenure 2024–27, has called for safeguarding the ancestral land of the Nagas with fierce determination, resisting any force that seeks to divide or diminish it.
During the assembly held at Libung Village in Chandel district on Friday, Ruwnglar Elly Anal, President of NSUC, said the Nagas of Chandel “stand together as one unbreakable Naga family, united by our shared heritage and unbreakable spirit.”
“Our land is more than soil—it is the cradle of our ancestors, the source of our sustenance. We must safeguard it with fierce determination, resisting any force that seeks to divide or diminish it,” Elly said. He also called for maintaining peace and harmony among communities to ensure this legacy endures for future generations.
Elly further stated that peace is not passive but rather an active commitment to dialogue, forgiveness, and mutual respect.
“In Chandel, let us build bridges of harmony, where every tribe and village contributes to a symphony of coexistence. This harmony will shield us from discord and foster prosperity,” he said.
As part of the assembly, a monument was also erected under the theme “Unity, Identity and Land” by the NSUC President and dedicated by Wt. Roca Anal, Pastor, Libung Baptist Church.
The monument is envisioned as a lasting symbol and collective testimony that the Nagas of Chandel are the rightful landowners of Chandel district. It will stand as visible proof of ancestral land, a safeguard for traditional boundaries, and a unifying point for all the people, the NSUC said.
“Through this initiative, we seek to preserve and promote our values, customs, and heritage for the present generation and those yet to come,” the NSUC said.
The monument will therefore serve not only as a cultural landmark but also as a historical reminder of existence, sacrifices, and the collective responsibility to protect and uphold the legacy handed down by forefathers, the student body stated.
The assembly was hosted by Anal Lenruwl Tangpi and was attended by youths, Sulam Area Chief Association, Sulam Business Association, Unique Business Association, Tribunal General and members, senior members, advisors, ANSAM President, Speaker, colleagues, and well-wishers.
