As Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrapped up his visit to Manipur, veteran politician O Joy of the Manipur Congress voiced what many are whispering: “He came, he waved, but he said nothing.”
In a press conference at Congress Bhawan in Imphal, O Joy condemned the PM’s failure to address the state’s deepening ethnic unrest.
While Modi inaugurated projects and posed for cameras, the Congress leader questioned the absence of any mention of the violence, the displaced, or a path to healing.
Stating that “there is fear that something is being planned behind the scenes,” Joy added, warning of a “hidden agenda” that could endanger Manipur’s integrity.
Calling the visit a missed opportunity, Joy urged the Prime Minister to speak not just as a leader, but also as a listener to a wounded state.
