O Joy Urges Removal of Manipur’s Advocate General Amid PR

Veteran politician and former Law Minister O Joy has raised concerns over the tenure of Advocate General Lenin Hijam in Manipur, questioning why he has not been removed following the resignation of Chief Minister N Biren and the imposition of President’s Rule.

Joy cited Article 165(3) of the Indian Constitution, which he interprets as necessitating the removal of an Advocate General appointed by a resigning Chief Minister under such circumstances.

Speaking from his residence in Imphal, Joy emphasized that formal complaints have been filed with the Union Home Minister, the Solicitor General of India, and the Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur through their respective principal secretaries.

He highlighted the importance of upholding constitutional norms and ensuring the integrity of legal appointments during periods of political transition.
