Marking the occasion of Manipuri Language Day, the Manipur People’s Party (MPP) announced that it will soon launch a mass enrollment campaign alongside a rally to strengthen its grassroots base.
Various party wings, including the Youth Wing and Women Wing, will lead the initiative.
Speaking at the observance held at the MPP office in Imphal, MPP President S. Brojen Singh underlined the urgent need for a stronger regional political force in Manipur. He also recalled the pivotal role played by the then MPP-led government in uplifting the Manipuri language.
The programme was attended by Retd. Prof. M.S. Ningomba of the Manipuri Department, Manipur University, as Chief Guest. Prof. Naorem Sanatomba of Manipur University, Working Presidents M. Sharat, K. Krishnachandra, N. Ojit, and S. Ibomcha also shared the dais as Guests of Honour.
