Feb 27, 2025 : A One-Day Awareness Programme on the PM Vishwakarma Scheme was organized today at DRDA Hall, Mini-Secretariat, Hamleikhong. The event was conducted by MSME-DFO, Imphal, and the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MoMSME) in collaboration with the District Industries Centre (DIC), Ukhrul.
Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Asish Das (IAS), attended the programme as the Chief Guest. Highlighting the rich craftsmanship of the local artisans, he noted that their skills remain largely unknown outside their locality due to a lack of promotion and marketing. He urged artisans to upgrade their skills and leverage the PM Vishwakarma Scheme to expand their reach in bigger markets.
In his welcome address, Themreiyo T. Awungshi, General Manager of DIC-Ukhrul, emphasized that the programme aimed to enhance awareness and encourage registrations under the scheme. He reiterated that the initiative seeks to uplift the economic status of artisans and craftsmen, thereby contributing to the nation’s overall economic growth.
During the event, certificates of completion were handed over to 82 trainees by the Deputy Commissioner for successfully completing their training.
The programme was attended by Ngamreiwung Luithui, SDO LM Block; W.S. Raimeson, District Information Officer (DIO) and District Skill Nodal Officer, DID; Kashing Shingnaisui, YP, MSME-DFO, Imphal, and other dignitaries. A total of 112 participants, including Gram Panchayat leaders (village chiefs), representatives from SLBC, BDOs, the Forest Department, Handloom and Textiles Department, CSCs, training partners, and artisans from various trades, were present.
Representatives from SLBC, NSDC, and CSC also addressed the challenges faced by applicants and Gram Panchayats in availing benefits under the scheme.
