Imphal, April 28: In a major breakthrough against extortion activities in Manipur, state police arrested an active cadre of the proscribed outfit PREPAK (Pro) during an intelligence-based operation in Imphal West.
The arrested individual has been identified as Hijam Ngamba Meetei (24), a resident of Sagolband Thangjam Leirak, Imphal West. He was apprehended on April 28, 2025, from Langthabal Kunja Awang Leikai, Yambem Leirak Machin under the jurisdiction of Singjamei Police Station.
According to police sources, the arrested cadre was involved in extortion activities targeting doctors, business establishments, and other professionals.
During the operation, the following items were recovered from his possession:
One pistol with a magazine loaded with two rounds of 7.65 mm ammunition, Two mobile handsets, and One two-wheeler vehicle.
