Open Painting Competition Held Ahead of 15th Manipur Polo International

An Open Painting Competition on the theme “Manipur Gave the World the Game of Polo: Save the Manipuri Pony” was held today at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal, as a curtain raiser for the upcoming 15th Manipur Polo International 2025.

The event was organised by the Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association with the objective of promoting awareness about Manipur’s polo heritage and the conservation of the Manipuri Pony. A total of 38 young participants took part in the competition.

Lanleiba Sinam of UNACCO clinched the first prize, while Lenison Rajkumar of Ushus School and Kelvin Elangbam of Pitambara secured the second and third prizes respectively. Consolation prizes were awarded to Angela Heikrujam, Ningomba Priscilla, Pheedam Sinam, and Korou Khuman.

The event highlighted the cultural significance of polo in Manipur and encouraged youth involvement in preserving the state’s indigenous pony and polo legacy.
