A large-scale mock drill, codenamed Operation Abhyass, was conducted at Kamjong Higher Secondary School today as per the directive of the Union Home Ministry.
The exercise began at 10:30 AM in the presence of Kamjong DC Rangnamei Rang Peter, SP Kamjong Ningsem Vashum, CO of 8 Assam Rifles Sumit Acharya, and BSF Officer-in-Charge Sanjay Beniwal.
The mock drill simulated multiple emergency scenarios such as an air raid with sirens, breakout of a massive fire, search and rescue operations, casualty evacuation, setting up of temporary medical facilities, and safe relocation of civilians to bunkers or demilitarised zones.
Around 250 students actively participated in the drill, supported by 14 volunteers.
Addressing the gathering, DC Rangnamei Rang Peter highlighted the purpose of the exercise—to prepare for real-life emergencies and ensure that both authorities and the public are ready to respond swiftly and effectively. He stressed the importance of vigilance, environmental awareness, and adherence to safety protocols, assuring that citizens’ safety remains the top priority in any emergency.
