Continuing the crackdown against cross-border contraband drug trafficking, the Assam Rifles along with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized 105.25 kg of opium and 2.05 kg of brown sugar from T. Jangnom, an Indo-Myanmar border village in Chandel district of Manipur on Thursday.
The seized contraband, worth ₹9.37 crore, is suspected to have originated from Myanmar. The operation underscores the success of inter-agency coordination and marks a significant setback for the narco-network operating in the region, according to the Assam Rifles.
There is no report of any arrests in connection with the seizure.
