Security forces, in operations conducted across Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, and Imphal East districts of Manipur, recovered a large cache of arms, live ammunition, and explosives, including projectiles and a launcher, on Tuesday.
From the track connecting the N. Boljang area of Kangpokpi, the recovered items include one 5.56mm INSAS rifle with magazine, one .22 pistol with two magazines, one bolt action rifle, one short-range projectile launcher, five improvised mortars, five Pull Mech rifles, and ten mortar bombs. In the general area of Thangjing Hill, from Loilamkot village to Nalon village in Churachandpur district, security forces recovered one AK-47 with magazine, one 12 bore SBBL gun, two .303 rifles with magazines, two rockets measuring 8 feet, three rockets of 5 feet, two tactical helmets, one 12 bore ammunition belt, five BP jacket covers without plates, one country-made hand grenade, five country-made mortar bombs, four AK-47 live rounds, six AK empty cases, three SLR empty cases, two .303 live rounds, four .303 empty cases, and one wireless set.
In Imphal East District, from the foothills of the Ngariyan Hill Range under Irilbung Police Station, the recovered items include one .303 LMG with magazine, one .303 sniper rifle with magazine, one 7.62 SLR rifle with two magazines, one 12 bore single barrel gun, two 9 mm pistols with magazines, five SMG carbine magazines, one INSAS LMG magazine, three No. 36 hand grenades with arming rings, four aluminum explosives, one .303 LMG barrel, 55 rounds of 7.62 live ammunition, 39 rounds of .303 live ammunition, two 12 bore live rounds, 30 rounds of 5.56×30 mm live ammunition, five 9 mm live rounds, two .32 live rounds, 117 empty cases of 7.62 SLR, seven 7.62 AK rifle empty cases, four .303 empty cases, four tear smoke grenades, one tear gas gun, one stun grenade, ten anti-riot shells, six tube launchers, one anti-riot shell empty box, two radio sets, eight BP helmets, eight BP jackets, one handbag, one empty ammunition box, three magazine posts, and three empty covers of 51 mortar shells.
