Jan. 28, 2025: In separate operations today, Manipur Police nabbed two people from the Lilong area with contraband brown sugar in two different locations.
The first person has been identified as Bashir Ahomod Laskar (36) of Nutan Ramnagar Part I, Cachar, Assam, presently residing at Lilong Bazar in Imphal West. He was arrested with 4.24 kg of suspected brown sugar concealed in a welding machine box he was carrying.
In another operation, Manipur Police arrested another person, namely Meraimayum Ali Hassan (32) from Lilong Mairen Khun under Lilong PS, Thoubal District, and seized the following contraband substances from his possession:
i. 37 (thirty-seven) soap cases, each containing a plastic packet of suspected brown sugar, weighing a total of 859 grams.
