Ending days of uncertainty, Zeliangrong civil society organisations on Monday announced the withdrawal of the boycott of the 18th State-level Orange Festival in Tamenglong district, citing the larger interest of the Zeliangrong public and orange growers.
The decision was taken during an emergency joint meeting held today following appeals from Zeliangrong legislators, leaders, and members of the public.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Zeliangrong Union (AMN), Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN), All Zeliangrong Students Union (AMN), Zeliangrong Youth Front (AMN), Rongmei Naga People Organisation (AMN), Kabui Mother Association, Zeliangrong Women Union, and Zeliangrong Football Association.
After detailed deliberations, the CSOs agreed to call off the boycott at this juncture, while asserting that they would not remain silent over any future actions that promote division among the Zeliangrong people.
The organisations issued a strong warning that any authority, organisation, or individual acting against the will of the people or pursuing divisive policies would not be tolerated in the future.
The release was issued by the Media Cell, Zeliangrong CSOs.
