JAN 3, 2025 (IMP): In a heart-warming display of cultural solidarity, Assam Rifles personnel joined the Kabui community to celebrate the auspicious Chakaan Gaan-Ngai Festival at Oinam Kabui Khull, Bishnupur district, on January 3, 2026. As a significant post-harvest celebration, the festival symbolises renewal, gratitude, and the victory of light over darkness. The event was marked by the active participation of the force, who presented thoughtful gifts to the villagers as a gesture of enduring goodwill and mutual respect.
The celebrations featured a rich tapestry of traditional songs, rhythmic folk dances, and sacred rituals dedicated to ancestral deities. Immersing themselves in local traditions, the troops participated alongside the community, sharing in the spirit of unity that defines this vibrant festival. The programme was attended by over 250 villagers, including community elders, youth, children, and members of the Meira Paibis. They were enthusiastically joined by around 35 officials and troops who coordinated the event, ensuring a seamless and memorable celebration for all.
Soul-stirring hymns and prayers for a bountiful harvest created an atmosphere of profound communal harmony and joy. By participating in such cultural milestones, Assam Rifles continues to uphold its commitment to “Winning Hearts and Minds,” fostering social cohesion and inclusive development within the border regions.
