Over 300 Homes Rebuilt: MLA Ranjit Urges Displaced Families to Return and Reclaim Their Lives

With over 300 homes already reconstructed in the conflict-ravaged areas of Serou and Sugnu, Sugnu AC MLA K. Ranjit has made a renewed call for displaced families to return home and restart their lives, assuring full support in the resettlement process.

Speaking at a friendly football match held at the Sugnu Public Ground between the ISTV Family and the Sugnu-Serou Sports Development Committee, the MLA positioned the event as more than a game—it was a message of recovery and unity.
“We’ve crossed a major milestone in our rebuilding journey. Now is the time for our people to come back and rebuild not just their homes, but our shared future,” he said.

The region, which suffered immense loss during the unrest, with nearly 500 homes destroyed and multiple lives lost to violence, has seen determined reconstruction efforts.
Ranjit highlighted not only the housing progress but also the restoration of key facilities like the Sub-District Hospital in Sugnu and the Primary Health Center in Serou, now operational with increased staffing and resources.

Emphasising the importance of educational continuity, he promised additional assistance to ensure students among the displaced can transition smoothly back to local schools.
The match was attended by community leaders and dignitaries, including ISTV President L. Tombi, Executive Member B. Naobi Sharma, ISCOM Managing Director M. Gouro Meitei, and Chairperson of the Sugnu Municipal Council M. Sarat, among others.
