Feb. 01, 2025: In a concerted effort as part of the War on Drugs, a collaborative team comprising Manipur Police, Central Forces, the Forest Department, and an Executive Magistrate recently undertook a vigorous operation in Kangpokpi and Noney districts.
The crackdown resulted in the destruction of approximately 45 acres of illegal poppy cultivation in the Lhungjang village hill range under Saikul Police Station in Kangpokpi District. Simultaneously, another operation led to the eradication of 4.49 acres of poppy fields in the hill range of Nurathel Village under Noney Police Station in Noney District.
An FIR has been lodged to facilitate further investigation into these illegal activities, marking a significant step in curbing narcotics production in the region.
