Suleiman Shah, identified as the key planner of the Pahalgam terror attack, was among three terrorists killed in a joint security operation on Monday in the Harwan area near Dachigam National Park, Srinagar. The encounter is part of Operation Mahadev, launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police following intelligence inputs about the presence of foreign militants in the region.
The firefight began around 11 a.m. in Lidwas, a densely forested belt between the Zabarwan and Mahadev ridges. The challenging terrain prompted a high-intensity operation, with intermittent gunfire reported throughout the day.
Confirming the development, the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps posted on X:
“Three terrorists have been neutralised in an intense firefight. Operation continues.”
Police officials, however, said the operation was still underway and a detailed statement would be issued upon its completion.
