Para Commandos Strike Kuki Militant (UKNA) Bases in Churachandpur

Security personnel, including the Para Special Forces, have dismantled hideouts belonging to the United Kuki National Army (UKNA) during a coordinated counter-insurgency operation in Manipur’s Churachandpur district, officials confirmed today.

According to sources, the operation targeted forested areas of the hill district and was carried out as part of ongoing efforts to curb militant activity amid the prolonged ethnic unrest in the state.

UKNA, a banned outfit that has not signed any ceasefire agreement with the central government, is believed to operate from locations inside Manipur as well as across the India–Myanmar border.

Sources said troops were deployed into the jungle terrain with the help of helicopters before moving in on the suspected camps.

The mission, which began around 9 am, was confined to Churachandpur district.

Security forces continue to remain alert in the region as operations against insurgent groups are ongoing.
