The Parliament has given its nod to the statutory resolution regarding the extension of President’s Rule in Manipur for a further period of six months with effect from 13th August 2025.
The resolution moved by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, was approved through a voice vote. The Lok Sabha had already given its approval to the statutory resolution regarding the extension of President’s Rule in Manipur last week.
Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, while replying to a discussion, said that since the imposition of President’s Rule in Manipur, only one incident of violence took place, which led to the loss of one life. And no single person lost their life within the past four months.
President’s Rule was imposed in the state on February 13, four days after Bharatiya Janata Party leader N. Biren Singh resigned as the Chief Minister.
