Kakching District Administration observed Patriots’ Day today, honoring the martyrs of the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891. Deputy Commissioner Rohit Anand and Superintendent of Police Priyadarshini Laishram paid floral tributes to the portraits of Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General, remembering their supreme sacrifice in the fight against British rule.
A two-minute silence was observed in respect of all martyrs, highlighting the bravery and valour of Manipuri forefathers. Patriots’ Day is observed annually on August 13 to commemorate these sacrifices.
In parallel, the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign continued across the district as part of the 79th Independence Day celebrations, involving government officials, students, and citizens in various activities.
Preparations for the main Independence Day function at the District Sports Association Ground are ongoing, including the installation of a mobile toilet by the Kakching Municipal Council for attendees.
