With the violence ceasing in Manipur for now—though it has yet to achieve proper peace and total harmony—people are looking forward to change, and the Manipur Governor has expressed hope that the state will see the peace and harmony it has been longing for.
“I definitely assure you that we are working on it. There are talks at this point in time; talks are going on in Delhi under the initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs, and we are hopeful to achieve success. The proper harmony may take some more time to come. But [I am] very confident it will be achieved,” Manipur Governor A.K. Bhalla stated on Monday while attending a programme at Sainik School Imphal in Pangei, which included inauguration of facilities, interaction with cadets, tree planting, etc.
The Manipur Governor also said instigating against each other will only destabilize the peace process, and the people should stop criticizing good and bad people and instead try to become the good people of the community to return to normality.
Manipur, which has faced unrest since May 2023, has seen 250 deaths and the displacement of thousands of people. After continued tensions, President’s Rule was imposed in February 2025, subsequently after the resignation of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh.
The event was attended by First Lady of Manipur Jyoti Grover Bhalla, Principal A. Rajiv, and Maj. Gen. S.S. Kartikeya, along with faculty and cadets.
On the sidelines of the event, Principal A. Rajiv told the media that the school has produced over 400 officers for the armed forces so far. He added that six cadets were recently commissioned as officers on the same day, and several more are in the pipeline for upcoming NDA batches.
