Pherzawl Kicks Off 7th Poshan Pakhwada Campaign; Anti-Rabies Vaccination Drives Also Launched

The 7th edition of the Poshan Pakhwada campaign was officially launched in Pherzawl district on Wednesday at Bukpi Community Hall. The campaign, aimed at raising awareness about nutrition, was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Mannuamching and organized by the District ICDS Cell.

The event witnessed the participation of various District Level Officials, Anganwadi Workers and Supervisors, students, and members of the local community. During her address, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of maternal and infant nutrition, particularly during the first 1,000 days of life. The campaign also focused on community involvement to promote long-term health and well-being.

As part of the initiative, nutritious and organic vegetables were displayed and distributed to pregnant and lactating mothers to help combat malnutrition in the district.

The Poshan Pakhwada 2025 campaign, implemented by the ICDS Cell, will run from April 8 to 22 and cover all areas of Pherzawl district.

In a parallel effort to safeguard public health, the district administration has also launched a mass anti-rabies vaccination drive following a rise in dog bite and rabies cases in neighboring Churachandpur. The free vaccination campaign covers villages including Pherzawl, Senvon, and Patpuihmun to curb the spread of the disease.
