Platinum Jubilee Celebration Marks 75 Years of Christianity at St. John Believers Eastern Church

Feb. 4, 2025: St. John Believers Eastern Church, New Wangparal, in Chandel district, commemorated its 75th anniversary of Christianity on Monday under the theme “Ebenezer,” symbolizing God’s steadfast help, as Prophet Samuel proclaimed in 1 Samuel 7:12.

The celebration featured the unveiling of a Jubilee monolith by H.G. Bishop Jeremiah Mor Theodosius, Episcopa, emphasizing God’s enduring presence over the village’s 75-year Christian journey.

The event included the hoisting of the Jubilee flag by Parpa Jonah, son of church founder (late) PR Ratshu, followed by the traditional gong ringing 75 times.

Rev. Simon Raomai, President of the All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO), honored the pioneers’ dedication in establishing the church.

The celebration also showcased cultural performances and hymns by various church groups, while daughters of the village who married elsewhere were recognized.

Religious leaders from the Chothe community and other tribes joined in solidarity, affirming the church’s integral role in the community’s spiritual life.
