Prime Minister Narendra Modi today landed at the Emergency Landing Facility located on the Moran Bypass in Dibrugarh, marking the operational significance of the first such infrastructure of its kind in Northeast India.
The Emergency Landing Facility, constructed along the Moran Bypass, is designed to function as a critical strategic asset. The Prime Minister noted that the facility will play an important role in meeting strategic requirements and enhancing rapid response capabilities during natural disasters and other emergencies.
The infrastructure is expected to strengthen regional preparedness by enabling emergency aircraft operations when conventional airbases are unavailable or during crisis situations. It is reported that such facilities enhance both defence readiness and disaster management response in the region.
The development is being viewed as a major boost to infrastructure and strategic capabilities in the Northeast, reinforcing the Centre’s focus on strengthening connectivity and resilience in the region.
