Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel today announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Manipur on 13th September 2025 for a day-long visit packed with key developmental initiatives and interactions with displaced communities.
On his arrival at Churachandpur around 11:30 am, the Prime Minister will first meet the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of the district before laying the foundation stone of several infrastructural projects worth ₹7,300 crore at Peace Ground, Churachandpur. He will also address the public gathering there.
Later in the day, at around 2:00 pm, the Prime Minister will reach Kangla in Imphal, where he will again interact with IDPs and inaugurate developmental projects worth ₹1,200 crore, benefitting both Manipur and regions beyond. He is also scheduled to address the public gathering at Kangla.
Among the foundation stone projects are the Manipur Urban Roads, Drainage and Asset Management Improvement Project, the Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) Project with employment and skilling components, and Working Women Hostels at nine locations. Key health, education, and sports infrastructure initiatives will also be launched, including the strengthening of 120 high schools and higher secondary schools across all 16 districts, super-speciality healthcare facilities in remote areas, and a multipurpose indoor stadium at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex. Road connectivity projects under Bharatmala Pariyojana in Ukhrul and Tengnoupal are also part of the extensive package.
The inauguration list includes the new Civil Secretariat at Mantripukhri, Manipur Bhawans in New Delhi and Kolkata, the new Police Headquarters, and the IT-SEZ building at Mantripukhri. Other projects encompass the Western Riverfront Phase-II, Mall Road development, Ima Markets at four locations, cultural and heritage parks, college infrastructure under the College Fagathansi Mission, bridges, district administration offices, and new institutional and healthcare facilities across the state.
Chief Secretary Goel emphasized that these initiatives highlight the Prime Minister’s “continued commitment and dedication to the development and welfare of Manipur.” He appealed to the people of Manipur to extend a warm welcome to the Prime Minister and actively participate in the programmes scheduled across the state.
