16 Jan 2025: In connection with the suspected ransom-related-abduction of one 33-years-old Md. Nawash from his residence located at Kairang Mayai Leikai of Imphal East District on 14th of this month, the Manipur police arrested of 6 people related with the accident.
According to Manipur Police, the 6 arrested are all member of Arambai Tengol identified as Sagolsem Chingkheinganba Singh (25), Chingakham Sanatomba Singh (19), Sapam Somorjit Singh (32), Maibam Bokenjit Singh (24), Athokpam Jiban Singh (30), Chingakham Mani Singh (41).
Md. Nawash, 33 years, son of Md. Leharuddin of Keirang Mayai Leikai under Heingang Police station, was brought death at Thoubal District Hospital a day after his abduction, according to reports.
Meanwhile, in a statement issued to public, the Arambai Unit-2 (Andro Branch) has clarified that the incidence had nothing to do with the Unit. It said some people disguised as their members committed it and those involved has been handed over to police for necessary legal action.
