Feb 22, 2025: The Bishnupur District Police, in coordination with the Manipur Police Cybercrime Unit, hunted down and arrested one unknown masked person who appeared in a viral video post on social media that purportedly threatened the state police, mainly Commando personnel.
According to the police, the arrested man in the video threatened the police/CDOs, questioning whether they would be safe returning home after duty if they continued arresting Meitei village defense volunteers. A regular case on suo moto was registered for investigation.
The police’s preliminary investigation reveals that the person arrested is a cadre of KCP (City Meitei), who had earlier deserted the proscribed outfit PLA and later joined KCP (City Meitei) Apunba in June 2023.
Police sources said the arrested person had taken the video in the Thamnapokpi area and uploaded it on social media with one of his cadre-mates, Saikhom Lembus, S/o S. Sobha Singh of Chingkhu, Sagolmang, Imphal East. The arrested person has been handed over to BPR PS for further necessary action.
