Feb. 16, 2025: Manipur Police have made the arrest of 5 persons—4 active members of KCP (PWG), including 2 women, and 1 active cadre of PREPAK (PRO)—who were involved in extortion and other illegal activities from two different districts on Friday.
The 4 KCP (PWG) members, including 2 women, were arrested from Huikap Village near Oil Pump, Andro-PS, Imphal East District. They have been identified as:
- Chaphamayum Sunder Singh @ Suresh (39)
- Nongthombam Boinao Meitei @ Lanjadaba (48)
- Leichongbam Ibesana Devi @ Pangthungnganbi (26)
- Maibam Tony Chanu @ Chingkheinganbi (23)
The arrested individuals were reportedly involved in extortion and the transportation of arms and ammunition, said police.
The police also seized:
- 02 (two) nos. of 9 mm Pistols with two magazines
- 10 (ten) nos. of 9 mm live ammunition
- 01 (one) no. of .32 live ammunition
- Some incriminating documents and booklets
- 07 (seven) nos. of mobile phones
- 01 (one) Sling Bag
- 02 (two) nos. of ID Cards
Meanwhile, the PREPAK (PRO) cadre has been identified as Yumlembam Arunkumar Singh alias Chingkhei (36) from Okshongbung Maning Leikai, Bishnupur District. The police recovered:
- 01 (one) Mobile Phone with 01 (one) Airtel SIM
- 01 (one) Aadhaar Card
