The Manipur Police suspended one constable attached to CID (SB) in connection with an FIR for his involvement in extortion-related activities by using arms from the general public, and a departmental enquiry is likely to be initiated pertaining to the case.
Earlier, on late Saturday, Md. Amumacha, personnel of Bishnupur District Police presently attached with CID (SB) Imphal, along with an accomplice, was collared and thrashed by the public in Yairipok area for an extortion attempt and later handed over to Andro Police.
According to the order issued by the SP of Bishnupur District, during the period of his suspension, he shall be at the district police reserve line and not allowed to leave the headquarters without prior permission from the competent authority.
