In a rescue operation launched against the wrongful confinement of people, the Manipur Police arrested 3 women and rescued 4 persons, including three women, from a house located at Langol Laimanai in Imphal West district on Sunday.
The three accused, arrested in connection with the confinement of people, have been identified as Thangjam Basanti Leima (50) of Thongjao Mayai Leikai, Waikhom Geeta Devi (36) of Changangei, and Kangabam Sundari Devi (57) of Changangei Uchekon.
The three arrested, led by Th. Basanti Leima, had also demanded a sum of Rs 5,00,000 (Five Lakhs) from the victims regarding an elopement-related matter, said Police.
The police also said that the arrested women were members of an organisation identified as ‘Armour of Manipur’ (AMO).
