Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata, amid the ongoing suspended animation of the State Assembly, today expressed confidence that a popular government would be formed in Manipur by February 13, based on assurances given by the Centre’s high command.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the inaugural function of the 2nd Irawat Trophy Day and Night Five-A-Side Open Football Tournament at Oriental Club Ground, Imphal, the Speaker said that while he was not in a position to make any formal recommendation, the people of Manipur could remain hopeful about the lifting of the present President’s Rule.
Responding to queries regarding the proposed Guwahati meeting on Manipur, Th Satyabrata stated that no official invitation had been received so far.
However, he added that he had come to know about the proposed meeting in the same manner as the general public.
