Popular Union Club, Kairang Launches Month-Long 2nd Sepak Takraw Coaching Camp

A month-long 2nd Sepak Takraw Coaching Camp formally kicked off today at the Popular Union Club, Kairang Maning Leikai, Imphal East, organised under the aegis of the All Manipur Sepak Takraw Association (AMSTA) to nurture young players and strengthen grassroots sports development in the state.

Padma Shri N. Kunjarani Devi, Olympian and Commandant, GC CRPF Langjing, inaugurated the training programme as Chief Guest. In her remarks, she praised the initiative of the club and AMSTA for creating a valuable platform for young boys and girls to learn the sport, build discipline, and pursue excellence. She also encouraged youths to take up sports seriously and work with dedication to bring laurels to Manipur and the nation.

Around 150 budding players from various districts are attending the camp. Over the next month, participants will undergo intensive training focused on skill development, physical endurance, tactical knowledge, and teamwork. Experienced coaches from AMSTA will guide the sessions with emphasis on building a strong foundation for future competitive performance.

Dignitaries attending the inaugural session emphasised that such initiatives play a crucial role in grooming future talents who can represent Manipur at national and international platforms. They also expressed confidence that the camp will inspire more young athletes to take up Sepak Takraw and strengthen the state’s rich sporting culture.

The organisers expressed gratitude to all supporters and reiterated their commitment to promoting youth engagement and sports development at the grassroots level.
