APRIL 6, 2026 (IMP): Manipur CM Y. Khemchand was accorded a rousing welcome by the Imas (mothers) of Ima Keithel on Monday in the state capital while returning from his fruitful peace and rapport-building tour in Manipur’s Jiribam district.
Upon reaching Ima Keithel, CM Khemchand first headed to offer a prayer to the Goddess Leimarel Sidabi idol installed inside the market to seek blessings.
“Their (Ima) warmth and affection stand as a powerful testament to the growing trust and renewed sense of unity among the people of Manipur,” Khemchand posted on social media after the visit.
Before reaching Imphal, while returning from a three-day trip, Khemchand attended the 47th Foundation Day of the BJP at the Rongmei Naga-dominated Noney district at Longmai Part-3 Multipurpose Hall, Noney district headquarters.
He was accorded a warm welcome by local Nungba BJP MLA Dipu Gangmei and Rongmei Naga traditional dancers. He, along with State BJP President Smt. A. Sharda Devi, hoisted the BJP flag at Longmai common ground in Noney town amidst the singing of Vande Mataram. Accompanied by eight BJP MLAs, the Chief Minister and the State BJP President paid floral tributes to the portraits of two ideological founders of the BJP, the late Deendayal Upadhyaya and the late Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee.
