Preparations are now speeding up to make this year’s edition of the 5-day long Shirui Festival 2025 a success, after a 2-year hiatus.
Tourism Director Pooja Elangbam, Secretary Power and Secretary Tourism, along with an official team, travelled by road to Shirui Village for an on-site inspection of the festival. Preparations are underway, and progress has been made so far. Visitors from the Northeast and other states are also expected.
For the 5-day long festival, the state transport has also introduced dedicated bus services for the Shirui Festival. To facilitate public transport for the upcoming 5-day long Shirui Festival 2025, from 20th to 24th May, the Manipur State Transport (MST) has arranged a dedicated bus service from Imphal to Ukhrul onwards for ferrying participants or visitors. Helicopter services for the visitors will also be available for travel from Imphal Airport to Ukhrul.
This year’s festival promises a vibrant five-day extravaganza featuring traditional and cultural performances, including live music, folk dances, indigenous games like the Shirui Lily Grand Prix, art and craft exhibitions, and culinary delights showcasing local ethnic cuisine. Adventure enthusiasts can participate in activities like camping and biking, while the popular SHiROCK music festival will showcase a wide array of performances—from pulsating rock and metal to energetic pop, hip hop, and electronic music. Past editions have seen international bands like Nazareth and Extreme perform, and this year promises an equally thrilling lineup with Indian and global acts.
Additional attractions include the Shirui Lily Literature Festival, a Trash Collection Marathon, SheChef cooking competition, drone light show, traditional weaving and textile exhibition, and the Miss Shirui Lily pageant. The festival will be held across multiple venues: Shirui Village (where the opening ceremony takes place), TNL Ground, Phangrei, and Bakshi Ground, culminating in a grand closing ceremony on May 24th.
