Dec 12, 2025 (IMP): President of India Droupadi Murmu arrived in Imphal this afternoon for a two-day visit to the state.
Security has been beefed up in the state in view of her visit, and heavy security personnel have been deployed along all key routes—from Imphal Airport to the programme venues.
Roads have been freshly repainted, lined with colourful flags, and multiple layers of security checks are already in place.
The President is expected to visit Mapal Kangjeibung (Polo Ground) to attend the 2nd DGAR Polo Tournament. Later in the evening, she is scheduled to visit the City Convention Centre, where she will meet internally displaced persons and attend a formal programme. She is also expected to address the gathering.
On the second day of her visit, President Murmu will pay floral tribute at the Nupi Lal Memorial Complex, honouring the historic women-led movements of 1904 and 1939. She will then proceed to Senapati to lay the foundation stones for several upcoming development projects before leaving the state.
