June 2, 2026 (IMP): Demanding clues on the alive and safe release of six Liangmai Naga men allegedly abducted by Kuki militants from Leilon Village on May 13, residents of Namdilong Naga Village, located on the fringes of Imphal West district, continued their protest along National Highway-102 (Imphal–Dimapur Road) on Tuesday.
Large numbers of villagers took to NH-102 and conducted checks on passing vehicles, resulting in disruptions to traffic movement. Women from the Zeliangrong and Meitei communities also joined the protest in support of the demand for the safe return of the missing individuals. Protesters said they would continue their agitation until the six individuals are safely released.
Meanwhile, the indefinite shutdown called by the Joint Tribes Council Manipur (JTCM) continued to be observed across Zeliangrongpui-inhabited areas on Tuesday. Normal activities were affected in several areas as residents expressed solidarity with the demand for the release of the abducted individuals.
The ongoing protest and the shutdown reflect growing concern among Zeliangrong communities, who continue to demand the safe return of the six missing Naga people and prompt action.
