Feb. 11, 2025: Protests broke out in various locations of Imphal East, organized by women’s groups like Naharup Pangong Makhong Women Welfare Association, Naharup Huirem Leikai Women Welfare Association, and Bamon Kampu Meira Paibi, opposing CM Biren’s resignation during Manipur’s ongoing crisis.
Protesters demanded the Speaker’s resignation for not acting against 10 Kuki MLAs allegedly seeking Manipur’s disintegration while targeting Meitei MLAs working to protect the state.
They argued that the CM’s resignation was ill-timed and called on the Central Government to clarify whether it would restore normalcy.
They also opposed any move to arrest village volunteers, raising slogans and holding placards against such actions.
