Feb 10, 2026 (TBL): The Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM), which is conducting the Class X (HSLC/Matriculation) Examination 2026, has categorically removed two examination centres located in Khongjom Circle of Thoubal district in its recent announcement of the examination centre list. This announcement has drawn strong resentment from local residents of the area.
According to locals, the two schools in Khongjom Circle that have been removed from the BOSEM examination centre list are Lalit Madhop Sharma High School and Eurika High School. The people of Khongjom Circle have strongly opposed this move and urged BOSEM to reconsider the decision.
The All Club Organisations of Khongjom Circle, along with the Meira Paibi groups, stated that the exclusion of these schools from the HSLC Examination Centre List 2026 is unacceptable to the people of the area.
It was alleged that BOSEM has deliberately sidelined government schools while finalising the examination centres. Locals pointed out that the Chairman of BOSEM also holds the post of Director of Education (Schools) and questioned why government schools are being neglected by the Education Department itself.
The organisations further demanded that BOSEM issue a revised notification before February 12 by including the two excluded examination centres.
They also warned that if the government fails to address the issue, students studying in government schools of Khongjom Circle will be forced to migrate to CBSE-affiliated schools after obtaining transfer certificates, which would severely affect the state-run education system.
Leaders of local clubs alleged that despite repeated appeals, the BOSEM Chairman has been avoiding direct interaction with the public. They further stated that if the authorities continue to ignore public concerns, the people would intensify their agitation.
