Purple Fest 2025 Celebrates Inclusivity and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities

The Purple Fest 2025 was successfully held today at the Art Gallery of City Convention Centre, Imphal, under the Awareness Generation & Publicity Scheme. Organized by the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRCSRE), Imphal, the event aimed to promote inclusivity and showcase the talents of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).

State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, W. Birahari Singh, emphasized the significance of the festival in uplifting PwDs and providing them with a platform to display their skills in arts, crafts, and cultural performances. He highlighted that true progress can only be achieved when society recognizes and includes the contributions of PwDs.

“The celebration of Purple Fest reflects the spirit of inclusivity, resilience, and empowerment. The color purple symbolizes justice and pride, reminding us of the remarkable contributions of persons with disabilities to our society,” he stated.

He urged the public to support and educate PwDs rather than neglect them and encouraged them to utilize various government schemes meant for their empowerment. He also called for concrete actions to ensure accessibility, education, and employment for all individuals, regardless of ability.

The event featured cultural performances by PwDs and local artists, showcasing their immense talent. The Director of CRCSRE Imphal, N. Khoibi Singh, presided over the function, while Lt. Colonel Brahmacharimayum Hirendra Sharma of the 4 Gorkha Rifles attended as the Guest of Honour.
