Puya Meithaba Day observed for historical remembrance

Imphal, Jan 20, 2025: In preparation for the 296th observance of ‘Puya Meithaba Day’, students across various schools in Manipur participated in a symbolic act of remembrance by wearing black badges.

The observance, organised by the International Observation Committee on Puya Meithaba, began on Monday and will span three days. As part of the commemoration, the Salai Taret flag was kept at half-mast, reflecting respect for the historical significance of the day.

Participating schools include Mannu English School, Halley English School, Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, Lamjing Meira Sindamshang, Konsam Tombi & Sachi School, Enlighten Knowledge Higher Secondary School, Alpha BCI Memorial Academy, Vale Academy, Scholars Academy, Universal Students Academy, and Dynamic Education Foundation.

The event is aimed at honoring the cultural and historical importance of Puya Meithaba, while also fostering a sense of cultural awareness and pride among students in the region.
