Quid Pro Quo: WCKCSOs Blocks NH to Settle Scores with FNCC Blocking Kuki Entry

Call it quid pro quo; the fate of many carrier trucks along the National Highways in Manipur hangs in the balance, now stranded and lined up in a queue somewhere along the Kanggui areas in Kangpokpi district after the Working Committee of Kuki Civil Society Organisations (WCKCSOs) launched its highway blockage (NH-2) today to settle the score against the Foothills Naga Coordinating Committee (FNCC) for its failure to rescind the indefinite entry ban of Kuki in Naga inhabitants’ areas.

WCKCSOs had earlier served a 48-hour ultimatum to rescind the FNCC stand that bans entry of Kuki in Naga-inhabitant areas, and FNCC reacted that their stand is not directed against the Zomi or Hmar Lushai (Mizo) community, with whom Naga have historically maintained cordial rapport.

Meanwhile, the state home commission invited the FNCC convener and secretary for a discussion today at 4 p.m. in the Secretariat (South Block), Imphal, to end the impasse. However, it is not known what resolution has been brought during the meeting.
