Rabies outbreak confirmed in CCpur; New Zoveng declared Contaminated Zone

Rabies outbreak has been confirmed in Churachandpur, and the New Zoveng Village of the district has been declared a containment zone from today after multiple confirmed cases of rabies have been reported from the area, posing a serious threat to the health and safety of the general public and animals in the surrounding areas.

With the confirmation of the outbreak, the District Magistrate Dharun Kumar has issued an order of prohibition for movement of domesticated pets/dogs in and out of the village. All pet and stray dogs shall be identified and vaccinated under the supervision of the District Veterinary Department. Surveillance, door-to-door monitoring, and health check-ups shall be conducted by the CMO & District Veterinary Department, and sale and transport of domestic animals (dogs) is strictly banned during the containment period.

Police and the District Veterinary Department have also been asked to ensure strict enforcement of this order, and any person found violating this order shall be liable for penal action under Section 292 & 293 of BNS and other relevant provisions. The order shall remain in force until it is withdrawn or modified, based on the situation and recommendations of the concerned departments.
