Rain, Windstorm and Hail Cause Damage to Houses and Vegetable Farms in Parts of Manipur

Continuous rain accompanied by strong winds has caused damage to houses and agricultural fields in several parts of Manipur, while a hailstorm on Sunday evening further affected vegetable farms in different areas of the state.

Reports from various localities indicated that strong winds damaged rooftops and structures of several houses, while persistent rainfall disrupted normal life in many areas. The hail rain that occurred in the evening also destroyed standing vegetable crops in some farms, causing losses to farmers.

In a statement shared on his social media handle, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh said the recent heavy rains and hailstorms have affected some parts of the state and caused hardship to many families and communities. He stated that strict instructions have been issued to all concerned officials to remain on high alert and take immediate and coordinated measures to mitigate the impact on the affected people.

The Chief Minister said relief and response teams have been directed to act swiftly to ensure that essential assistance, including relief materials and access to basic necessities, reaches those in need without delay. He also assured that the Government stands firmly with the people and will continue to take all necessary steps to ensure relief, safety and support for every affected family.

Meanwhile, Tongbram Robindro Singh, MLA of Thanga Assembly Constituency, said that parts of Bishnupur district, particularly Thanga Ngaram, Thanga Khunjem and Thanga Ithing Khola, were severely affected after a strong windstorm damaged several houses in the area.

The MLA said he has spoken with the concerned authorities and urged them to immediately assess the situation and extend necessary assistance to the affected families. He also stated that he will visit the affected areas to personally review the ground situation and understand the needs of the people.

Meanwhile, light rain continued in several parts of Manipur on Sunday evening, with weather conditions remaining uncertain following the earlier windstorm and hail. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious as the situation continues to be monitored.
