Relief Association Extends Monetary Aid to Naga Villages Affected by Ongoing Crisis

May 17, 2026 : In a humanitarian gesture amid the ongoing hardships faced by hill communities, the Manipur Relief Association, through the Foothills Naga Coordination Committee (FNCC), Manipur, on Sunday extended monetary assistance to Naga villagers affected by the recent disturbances and displacement in the hill areas of the state.

The financial aid was handed over at the FNCC Branch Office located at Dewlahland in the presence of committee members and representatives of the association. The assistance was aimed at supporting Naga families and villages currently facing immense difficulties due to the prevailing unrest and instability in the hill regions.

Speaking on the occasion, Manipur Relief Association President Thokchom Surchandra stated that the recent turmoil in the hill areas has severely affected many innocent villagers, especially Naga communities living in vulnerable conditions. He said the association’s executive members had decided to extend the monetary support as a humanitarian initiative to stand beside the affected people during this difficult period.

He further appealed to all communities, civil society organisations, and the public to collectively work towards restoring peace and normalcy in Manipur while extending help to those suffering from the prolonged crisis.

Meanwhile, FNCC Convenor NG Akhiu expressed gratitude to the Manipur Relief Association for extending timely assistance to the hill people. He alleged that illegal immigrants have continued to create pressure and insecurity in indigenous hill villages, leading to immense suffering among Naga communities. Akhiu said the support provided by the association was deeply appreciated by the affected villagers and the committee alike.
