The vibrant cultural landscape of Manipur mourns the loss of veteran actress Kshetrimayum Ningol Lairellakpam Ongbi Rashi, who breathed her last yesterday.
Known for her profound contributions to Manipuri theatre and cinema, Rashi, born in March 1950, was introduced to the world of stage by her mother, Rasamani Devi.
Her illustrious career spanned decades, where she captivated audiences with over 150 radio plays and starred in the iconic film Imagi Ningthem, which garnered international acclaim.
Her stellar performances earned her accolades, including the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 13th Manipur State Film Awards in 2020.
In 2014, she was also honoured with the Sahitya Seva Samiti, Kakching Neta Irawat Leelaroi Lifetime Achievement Award.
Rashi’s demise marks the end of an era in Manipuri entertainment, leaving behind a legacy cherished by fans and peers alike.
