Renowned Tangkhul folk singer and Padma Shri awardee, Guru Rewben Mashangva, captivated the audience with his soulful folk music on the fourth day of the five-day North East Dance and Music Festival, organized by the Rhythms of Manipur at the Manipuri Jagoi Marup Golden Jubilee Stage. Guru Rewben performed three music pieces, including Phoushu Eshei, while providing insightful explanations about the background and cultural significance of the music.
The Rhythms of Manipur also presented two fusion music numbers, one of which was the State Song of Manipur, Sanaleibak Manipur, further adding to the festive atmosphere. The Chief Guest for Day 4, Kikrulhunyu Paphino, Deputy Director of Art and Culture, Nagaland, praised the Rhythms of Manipur for effectively portraying the region’s rich dance and music traditions in their compositions. He also extended a warm invitation for the group to perform in Nagaland in the near future.
As the festival nears its conclusion, tomorrow, on the final day, folk singer Thongam Loijingkhombi is set to perform Yaipel Seithaba and Lashing Lei Seitha, compositions by the legendary Oja Goshe Meitei. The festival, which has been supported by the Ministry of Culture, promises to end on a high note with these captivating performances.
