Feb 28, 2025: Anurag Bajpai, PCCF & HoFF and Additional Chief Secretary (Textiles, Commerce & Industries) & (Tribal Affairs & Hills), conducted a comprehensive review of the implementation of key government schemes in Kangpokpi District. Accompanied by senior officials from the Forest, Tribal Affairs, and Industries Departments, he assessed progress and discussed strategies to enhance the impact of these initiatives.
During a meeting at the Mini Secretariat, Kangpokpi, Bajpai reviewed schemes such as PM Vishwakarma, PMEGP, PMFME, and One District One Product, emphasizing the need for effective implementation. He highlighted the role of Handloom and Handicraft initiatives in supporting local artisans, including the distribution of looms to internally displaced persons (IDPs).
For the Tribal Affairs sector, a detailed discussion was held on the PM Jan Mann scheme and its convergence with other flagship programs. Bajpai stressed the importance of linking these initiatives for maximum outreach and impact.
Focusing on environmental sustainability and livelihood generation, Bajpai urged the people of Kangpokpi to participate in a large-scale bamboo plantation drive. He noted bamboo’s potential as a fast-growing species that can support industries, biofuel production, handicrafts, and food processing within a short period. Additionally, three more Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs) are in the final stages of approval, aiming to boost local entrepreneurship.
Bajpai also informed that a proposal for a new Industrial Estate in Kangpokpi is under advanced consideration by the Government of India. Similarly, a proposal for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) under the PM Jan Mann scheme is nearing finalization at the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
He encouraged field officers to adopt a proactive approach in engaging with local communities and ensuring doorstep delivery of benefits. Stressing the need for interdepartmental convergence, he called for coordinated efforts between the Forest Department, the Department of Textiles, Commerce & Industries, and the Department of Tribal Affairs & Hills.
Later, the team visited the DFO office in Kangpokpi, where he met frontline forest staff and motivated them to implement people-centric programs effectively. He directed the DFO to temporarily operate from an alternative arrangement provided by the DC until the office is reconstructed.
Inspections were also carried out at the District Industries Centre (DIC) and the office of the Project Manager (Handloom & Textiles). Both offices were advised to enhance their outreach efforts and improve public engagement to maximize the impact of government schemes.
The visit concluded with a strong message of collaboration, sustainability, and proactive governance to drive Kangpokpi’s economic and social development.
